The Foundation focuses on alleviating poverty throughout the world through market-driven development that creates jobs, increases incomes, and supports health and education.
2009 Programs in Development:
Text To Success Program
Studies show that 7,000 students drop out each school day in the United States. Every year, hundreds of thousands of adults take a test to measure their high school level academic skills. Passing this test creates opportunities to attend college, training schools, or advance a career. The Foundation looks forward to being the first institution to support individuals who are in need of receiving their high school equivalent degrees through the delivery of program and tutorial information utilizing cell phone technology. This program will also include video instruction, text messaging, and a mentoring component. The Foundation will launch the Text to Success program during its 2010 calendar year to adults throughout the United States.
Handheld education, unlike traditional education, is not limited by a school districts funding or access to qualified teachers. It represents an opportunity to provide relevant curriculum and expanded course offerings not always available through traditional systems. The Text To Success program provides opportunities for individuals to have access to learning from anyplace at anytime. Broad in scope with rich content, the Text To Success curriculum will use a variety of proven strategies to easily explain concepts, provide practical applications and evaluate student performance. Handheld learning can expedite the mastery of essential 21st century skills by developing self-directed learning, time management, and personal responsibility.
